Trusting the Process: A Journey Through Change

It was a beautiful morning, and I found myself in the garden, tilling the soil. As I worked, my mind drifted into deep thought, reflecting on the past few months. There is something about working the earth that mirrors the seasons of life. Just as the soil must be broken and turned to prepare for new growth, so too must we go through seasons of breaking and change. The sun climbed higher, and the heat became more intense. Sweat dripped from my brow, and I knew it was time to step inside. I made my way to the cool of my living room, deciding it was the perfect moment to sit down and finally put into words the thoughts that had been stirring in my heart for the last six months.

A lot happens in six months. I have had to make difficult decisions, let go of certain things, and even distance myself from people for the sake of my own well-being. Sometimes, we believe that being productive means staying constantly busy, taking on more than we should, and stretching ourselves thin. But one of the most important lessons I have learned is that purpose is not found in endless activity. Purpose is something deeper. It is not in what we do but in who we are becoming. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV).

Change is not always comfortable. It requires growth, and growth often demands letting go. Over these past months, I have had to release relationships that no longer aligned with where God was leading me. In doing so, I have found new friendships that have enriched my life in unexpected ways. The more I embrace change, the more I realize that growth is a continuous process. Yet, while I open my heart to change, I hold firm to the unshakable truths that define me. Some things in life are meant to evolve, but there are also fundamental principles that must never shift. Our faith, our values, and our integrity—these are the foundations that we cannot afford to compromise. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." (Hebrews 13:8, KJV).

Still, change is not always easy to understand. There are moments when life does not make sense, when unexpected challenges arise, and we are left wondering why things happen the way they do. Just this week, I have faced obstacles that tested my patience and faith. My vehicle has required costly repairs, stretching my resources thin. Today, the pump we use to bring much-needed water from the river suddenly stopped working. The heat is relentless, and we need water. These challenges could easily lead to frustration, discouragement, and doubt. But in that moment, I made a conscious decision, I will not be consumed by worry. I will trust the process. "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31, KJV).

I do not know how everything will turn out. I do not have all the answers. But I do know that trusting God is not about understanding every detail. It is about surrendering, even in the unknown. "For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7, KJV). I may not see the full picture now, but I trust that God does. He is working even when I cannot see it.

While we embrace the journey of change, we must recognize that some truths remain constant. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Romans 12:2, KJV). Change does not mean abandoning who we are. It means refining ourselves, shedding the things that no longer serve us, and stepping into the fullness of who God created us to be.

If you are facing a season of uncertainty, know that you are not alone. Life does not always unfold the way we expect, and there will be moments that stretch your faith. But do not be afraid of change. Do not resist the process. Instead, embrace it. Allow God to mold and shape you. Trust that He is leading you toward something greater. Even when you do not know what tomorrow holds, trust the One who holds tomorrow.
