A Faith That Moves
A Faith That Moves
I woke up early this morning, earlier than usual. It was the kind of morning where the air felt different, where the silence carried weight, and where thoughts seemed to rise before the sun. It gave me a couple of extra hours to sit, to write, and to listen. As I sat in the stillness, my heart was heavy with thought. Decisions lingered in my mind—ones I knew I could not ignore forever. And then, like a whisper carried on the wind, these words came to me: A faith that moves. I knew God was speaking.
We often say we have faith, that everything will work out, that God is in control, but do we truly believe that? It’s easy to say we trust Him when everything is steady, but when life presents choices that shake our foundation, do we move forward in faith, or do we stand still, waiting for a clearer sign?
Paul, in his honesty, gave us a glimpse into the human struggle. "For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice." (Romans 7:19, NKJV). How many times have we felt that same frustration? We know what should be done. We know the steps we should take. Yet, we hesitate. We question. We convince ourselves that waiting is wisdom when, in reality, it is fear disguised as patience.
Faith was never meant to be stationary. Faith, real faith, moves. It steps into the unknown before clarity comes. It walks on water before the waves settle. It builds an ark before the first drop of rain. Abraham left his homeland, not knowing where he was going. The woman with the issue of blood pressed through the crowd, believing that just touching the hem of Jesus’ garment would heal her. Peter stepped out of the boat, and for a moment, his faith held him up.
But here is where we often get stuck. We mistake stillness for faith. We tell ourselves we are waiting on God when He has already spoken. We pray for direction when He has already given it. We desire certainty when faith was never meant to come with guarantees. "For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7, NKJV).
This morning, as I wrestled with my own thoughts, I had to ask myself: What if I moved in faith instead of just standing still? What if the breakthrough I seek requires me to take the first step? What if the provision I pray for is waiting on the other side of obedience? What if the only thing keeping me from walking in God’s will is my own reluctance to trust Him beyond what I can see?
Fear will always argue against faith. It will tell us to wait, to play it safe, to stay within the realm of what makes sense. But faith? Faith calls us into the deep. It invites us to trust when the numbers don’t add up, when the timing isn’t perfect, when the path isn’t clear.
The truth is, we can’t claim to believe in a God of miracles while refusing to move until the miracle happens. Faith doesn’t wait for the sea to part before stepping forward. It steps forward, and the sea parts. It prays for rain and builds the trenches before the first drop falls. It doesn’t just wish things would work out—it acts on the belief that God is who He says He is.
As I sit here, the sun slowly rising, I know this morning wasn’t just about waking up early. It was about waking up to something deeper. A reminder. A challenge. A call. If faith is going to move mountains, it must first move me.
So, the question remains—will we keep waiting, or will we move?
